Stockton Wins Double Overtime Thriller 2-1

(Galloway, NJ) – Matt Jenne's (Kinnelon/Kinnelon) header with 2:07 left in the second overtime period, propelled Richard Stockton (11-3-2, 6-1 NJAC) to a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Ramapo (6-7-2, 2-5 NJAC) on Saturday afternoon for the Ospreys' seventh win in their last eight contests.

Stockton took a 1-0 lead in the first half when Chris Katona (Howell/Howell) took a long pass from Pat Rafferty (Brick/Christian Brothers Academy). Katona's breakaway and chip shot landed in the net for his team-leading 13th goal of the season, and the lead lasted through halftime.

The lead held up until midway through the second half as the Roadrunners fought back to tie the game. Rob Shalikar took a Cristian Trujillo pass and flipped shot into the Stockton net for the tie at 1-1. Both teams had a few opportunities in the remaining time in regulation but could not break through for the winner.

The Ospreys came out firing during the first extra session, squeezing off five shots to none for Ramapo. Katona had the best chance but his blast hit the post with 27 seconds left, sending the game to the second extra period.

Anthony Colofranson (Woodbury Heights/Gateway) went in alone with 7:14 left but his shot was turned away by Roadrunners' netminder Brian Petrunik. The Ospreys were able to cash in with 2:07 remaining as Dominic Nocito (Delran/Delran) sent a corner kick into the box, where Jenne headed the ball in for the game-winning tally. Nocito recorded his eighth assist of the season, tying him for the team lead.

Stockton goalkeeper Bob Millar (Cream Ridge/Allentown) picked up the win, turning away four Ramapo shots. Petrunik made nine saves in the loss.

Stockton will take to the road for a non-conference affair as they will face Purchase College on Monday at 4 pm.
