Galloway, NJ – Stockton University seniors
Sasha Williams (Cherry Hill/Cherry Hill West) and
Najha Treadwell (Cinnaminson/Cinnaminson) were chosen
all-region by D3hoops.com. Williams was voted D3hoops.com All-Atlantic Region First Team after two straight Second Team nods.
Treadwell received her first D3hoops.com recognition since her freshman year with selection to the All-Atlantic Region Third Team. She was named D3hoops.com Atlantic Region Rookie of the Year in 2015. Williams and Treadwell were the only two players in the NJAC to average a double-double, and the duo led Stockton to an 18-9 record this season.
Williams collected her fourth postseason accolade this year, a list that includes All-ECAC First Team, NJAC First Team and NJAC Defensive Player of the Year. The 6-2 forward ranks second in the nation in blocked shots (115) and blocked shots per game (4.26) plus 15th in double-doubles (17) and 20th in rebounds (307). Williams also was one of 28 players nationally to record a triple-double (22 pts/10 reb/12 blk vs. TCNJ on 2/20/18).
In addition to the D3hoops.com praise, Williams was named 2018 College Player of the Year by the
Al Carino Basketball Club of South Jersey, becoming the first Osprey to win the award since Christina Mason in 2004. The organization dates back to 1962 and has been recognizing the top female basketball players in South Jersey since 1974.
Treadwell garnered her third postseason honor for 2017-18, adding to NJAC First Team and All-ECAC Second Team kudos. The six-foot forward stands third in the nation in field goal percentage (.627), a category in which she led the NJAC four straight years. Treadwell also is 20th in NCAA Division III in field goals (198), 21st in double-doubles (15) and 35th in rebounds (285).
Williams and Treadwell each reached milestones this season. Williams both broke the school record for rebounds and grabbed her 1,000th career board against William Paterson on December 9. She became just the third Division III player to reach the 500-block mark versus Rowan on January 17. Treadwell reached the 1,000-rebound plateau against New Jersey City on February 14 and set the school record for field goal percentage in a season.
