Galloway, NJ – Stockton University defender
Colin Wharton (Cinnaminson/Camden Catholic) was chosen as a
Preseason DIII All-America Honorable Mention by Inside Lacrosse Magazine. Inside Lacrosse DIII writer Ken Stockmann chose the All-Americans with input from the Inside Lacrosse staff.
Wharton, a junior, helped the Ospreys to a school-record 16 wins with his outstanding defensive play a season ago. Wharton became just the third player in Stockton men's lacrosse history to receive All-America Honorable Mention recognition, joining Scott Berkheimer in 2005 and
Nick Bologno in 2015. He also was voted to the Skyline Conference First Team for his efforts last year.
Wharton joined the Stockton team after transferring from Jacksonville University and made an immediate impact in his first season with the Ospreys. He started all 19 games, totaling 35 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers. Wharton grabbed at least one ground ball in all but one contest, highlighted by a season-high five against FDU-Florham on February 21.
Wharton was part of a defensive unit that led the Skyline Conference with an 8.21 goals against average. He helped Stockton post a 16-3 record and finish as the Skyline runner-up for the third straight year.
